Abbey Wins Men's Lacrosse Conference Championship!

Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Noah Haas scored four goals and the Belmont Abbey Men's Lacrosse team earned a 12-7 victory over top-seeded Mount Olive to win the Conference Carolinas Championship.  Belmont Abbey now holds a 10-4 record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Austin Hasen got the Crusaders on the board less than two minutes into the contest, and The Abbey never trailed after that
  • Haas scored two goals in the period and Belmont Abbey led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter.  The Crusaders outshot the Trojans 16-5 in the quarter
  • Haas scored again in the opening minutes of the second, while Tim Palmer found the back of the net at the 3:14 mark, and the Crusaders held a 6-4 advantage at halftime
  • It took Connor Toomey less than a minute into the third to put BAC up 7-4.  Sean Hanrahan found the back of the net as time expired to put Belmont Abbey in front 8-4 heading into the final period.  BAC outshot UMO 11-6 in the third quarter
  • In the fourth, it was again Haas scoring early for the Crusaders.  Later in the quarter, back-to-back man-up goals gave Belmont Abbey an 11-7 lead with 6:05 left in the contest
  • Bailey Williams scored the final goal of the contest to cap off the 12-7 victory
  • On the day, Haas led the Crusaders with four goals
  • On the defensive side, Belmont Abbey caused 11 Mount Olive turnovers, led by Toomey and Neil Lingerman with three each.  Thomas Sullivan made 10 saves in goal
  • After the game, Sullivan was named the Tournament MVP
