YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. -- Brendan Boschi scored five goals, but fourth-seeded Barton scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter to upset No. 1 Belmont Abbey 13-12 in the semifinals of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The run broke a 9-9 tie at the end of the third quarter, although the Crusaders' late run of three straight goals fell short.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 14-4 and must now hope for an at-large berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Barton opened the game with six straight goals before the Crusaders rallied to a 7-4 halftime deficit. A 5-2 advantage in the third quarter evened the contest heading to the final 15 minutes.
- Boschi also led the team in shots (nine) and shots on goal (seven).
- Jack Cough tallied three goals and an assist, while Nate Lorenzo added two goals.
- Jacob Chandler and Matthew Peterson rounded out the scoring.
- Michael Aber and Blayze Becker grabbed five ground balls each, but the Bulldogs won the category 32-25 on the day.
- Barton had just 11 turnovers, while The Abbey committed 16.
- Eddie Kielkopf made 16 saves in goal for the Crusaders.
