Deloriers, Defense Help Abbey to 11-3 Semifinal Win

Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Nick Deloriers scored four goals, and the number 2 seed Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team won an 11-3 Conference Carolinas Semifinal victory over number 3 seed North Greenville this evening.  With the win, The Abbey improves to 9-4 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bailey Williams got the scoring started for The Abbey at the 8:46 mark of the opening quarter.  Four minutes later, Noah Haas set up Deloriers for a goal and an early 2-0 Abbey lead
  • Belmont Abbey led 2-0 at the end of the quarter.  The defense held North Greenville to just three shots in the period
  • Austin Hasen scored a man-up goal less than a minute into the second.  He scored again in the final minute of the period, giving BAC a 5-0 lead at halftime
  • North Greenville scored a man-up goal in the third, but from there it was all Abbey.  Deloriers scored two goals in a row.  Spanier found the back of the net at the 3:17 mark, and Williams scored his second goal of the night less than a minute later.  Belmont Abbey held a 9-1 lead heading into the final period
  • It did not take Hunter Duford long into the fourth to put BAC in front 10-1
  • With just under eight minutes remaining, Deloriers scored his fourth goal of the day, and Belmont Abbey held NGU off the rest of the way for the 11-3 win
  • On the night, Deloriers was BAC's offensive leader, with four goals
  • Luke Spanier scored twice and dished out two assists.  On the defensive side, Thomas Sullivan made 12 saves in goal.  Belmont Abbey caused nine NGU turnovers
