Hasen Tallies Seven Points in Abbey Win

Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. - Austin Hasen scored four goals and handed out three assists as the Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team ran its win streak to eight with a 17-7 victory at North Greenville this afternoon.  The Abbey now stands at 8-2 on the year, with a 5-0 Conference Carolinas record.  North Greenville dipped to 6-6 overall, and 4-1 in conference play.  With the win, The Abbey also clinches a first-round bye in the Conference Carolinas tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It only took Hasen 45 seconds into the contest to put The Abbey on top.  BAC never looked back from there, as it never trailed in the contest
  • Noah Haas scored twice in les than a minute to put Belmont Abbey in front 3-0.  Luke Spanier scored a man-down goal to put The Abbey in front 4-0.  BAC held a 4-2 lead when the first quarter ended
  • In the second, Spanier scored twice.  In the final minute of the period, Hasen set up Haas for a goal, then found the back of the net himself, off a pass from Brady Smith, giving BAC a 10-3 lead at halftime
  • Hasen scored first for The Abbey in the third.  Spanier tallied a goal in the last minute of the period, and Belmont Abbey held a commanding 13-4 lead heading into the final quarter
  • BAC scored each of the first four goals of the fourth, including two man-up goals.  From there, The Abbey wrapped up the 17-7 win
  • On the day, Hasen was the leading scorer for Belmont Abbey, with four goals and three assists
  • Spanier also scored four goals, and had one assist.  Jack Pigott caused three NGU turnovers.  Brady Smith won 15 of his 24 faceoffs
  • Thomas Sullivan made 14 saves in goal
  • As a unit, Belmont Abbey's 17 goals came on just 25 25 shots on goal

Belmont Abbey will play its final home game of the regular season on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. against Mount Olive.
