Men's Volleyball Rallies Past King

Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Belmont Abbey dropped the first two sets, but rallied for an epic 3-2 (21-25, 26-28, 25-21, 25-22, 21-19) victory over King in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Tuesday night. Four players reached double figures in kills, led by Matteo Miselli with 17.

With their fourth straight win, the Crusaders improve to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in league play. King falls to 7-11, 4-6 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Miselli added nine digs and four block assists to his attack numbers.
  • Riley Mulkey tallied 16 kills and a .448 hitting percentage. He had just three errors on 29 attempts. He also had a pair of blocks.
  • Andrew Kohut had a double-double of 15 kills and 10 digs, while Brian Long added 13 kills (.400).
  •  Brennan Davis dished out 63 assists, a career-high and just two shy of the school record. He also had four digs and three block assists.
  • Daniel Cerqua led the defensive effort with 12 digs.
  • Belmont Abbey saved four match points in the deciding set, while King fought off two.
  • The Crusaders scored the last three points of the match after trailing 19-18 in the fifth set.
UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey continues its road trip this weekend when it travels East for Conference Carolinas play.
  • The Crusaders face league-leading Mount Olive on Friday and Barton on Saturday. They split matches against those opponents earlier this season.
