MONTREAT, N.C. --
Cristina Villanueva won three events and set a new outdoor school record, leading Belmont Abbey at its 2020-21 track and field opener , the Montreat Winter Invite, on Friday. The "Polar Bear" meet featured indoor events conducted outside on the regular track.
TOP RESULTS
- Villanueva won the 60-meters with a time of 8.37, as the Crusaders dominated with the top five placings. She also won the 200 (27.83) and long jump with a new school outdoor record of 5.40m.
- Freshman Macie Sims took second in long jump with a mark of 4.95m, while Sekyah Chestnut, another freshman, finished second in 60m and third in the 200m.
- Katrina Morse placed second in the weight throw with an unofficial school record of 12.20m.

- Belmont Abbey competes at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championship next Monday, Feb. 22.
- The meet will take place in Virginia Beach, Va.
