Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. - Bryce Gifford made a career-high 23 saves as the #5-ranked Abbey men's lacrosse team won a hard-fought 8-3 victory over #18-ranked Rollins this afternoon in Savannah, Ga. The win puts The Abbey at 6-0 on the season, and 3-0 against ranked opponents. Rollins is now 2-2.
How it Happened
- Noah Haas didn't need much more than a minute into the contest to get The Abbey on the board first. A man-up goal by Luke Spanier put the Crusaders in front 3-0, and led 3-1 when the first quarter expired
- Haas was the only Crusader to score in the second. At halftime, BAC led 4-2 and Gifford had nine saves, despite Rollins outshooting the Crusaders 22-15 in the half
- It didn't take Sean Hanrahan long into the third to set up Collin Grippo for a goal. Not long after, Pigott scored a man-up goal, and BAC held a 6-3 lead heading into the final period. Gifford made eight saves in the third
- Haas put the Crusaders up 7-3 with a goal early in the fourth. Ben Utrosa added a man-up goal to cap off the scoring and the 8-3 victory
- Gifford's 23 saves on the day are a new career high
- Belmont Abbey was 3-for-3 on man-up opportunities
- The three goals given up by the team are a season best
