WILSON, N.C. - Freshman Goldsmith moved to 2-0 on the season, but the Belmont Abbey women's tennis team lost a 4-3 match at Barton this afternoon. The Abbey moves to 1-5 on the year, and 0-2 in Conference Carolinas play. It turned out to be the team's final match, as the NCAA as well as several conferences decided to suspend indefinitely the remainder of the season, due to COVID-19 concerns.
How it Happened
- The Crusaders won singles 4-6, but doubles play turned out to be the deciding factor
- Goldsmith had the best singles match of the day for the Crusaders, a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #6. She remains undefeated with a 2-0 record
- Laura Seib earned a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win at #4 singles
- Madelyn Schott earned a 3-set win at #5 singles, moving her to 1-1 in conference play
