Box Score BELMONT, N.C. -- A late 17-0 run by Belmont Abbey reversed a one-point deficit and lifted the Crusaders to an 89-79 Senior Night victory over Erskine in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday night. The Abbey trailed 71-70 after a Flying Fleet layup with 5:30 remaining before a three-pointer by Sean Halloran started the spurt.
With its sixth straight win, Belmont Abbey (18-9, 13-6) clinches a home game in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament next month. Erskine falls to 7-18, 4-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- DeQuan Abrom led the Crusaders with 21 points, while adding six rebounds.
- Halloran hit a career-high six three-pointers en route to 20 points. He also dished out five assists.
- Romeao Ferguson earned his seventh double-double with 18 points and a career-high-tying 13 boards.
- Belmont Abbey hit 50.0 percent from the field, including 58.5 percent after intermission. Erskine hit just 42.8 percent in the contest.
- The Crusaders also had a 44-37 rebounding advantage to offset three more turnovers.
- After Halloran hit his go-ahead three at the 4:46 mark, Ferguson pushed the lead to four with a jumper in the lane.
- Charles Solomon scored five points in a row -- and seven of the next nine -- to push the margin to 14 with 2:39 to play.
- Halloran capped the run with a layup 2:42 after his triple, making the lead 87-71.
- Seniors Abrom, Ferguson and ThankGod Avar, who missed all season with an injury, were honored in a pregame ceremony.
