BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Franklin Davis tallied 25 points and Belmont Abbey shot 53.8 percent from the field, leading to an 83-72 victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Caroinas men's basketball action Wednesday night. The win in the season finale gave the Crusaders a sweep over their Northwest Division rival this season.
With the victory, The Abbey closes out the 2025-26 campaign at 8-18 overall and 6-14 in league play, while the Bobcats finish at 10-18, 7-13.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davis made nine of 11 from the field, including six three-pointers to top 20 points for the fourth time He added four rebounds and an assist.
- Gabe Cerda added 18 points, while Myles Smith chipped in 15 points.
- Alhousseny Diallo grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, while Daniel Lubamba and Myles Smith added five each. The Crusaders held a 34-29 advantage on the boards.
- Smith blocked three shots with Davis rejecting two.
- Belmont Abbey trailed by four at the break, 39-35, but the Crusaders scored 48 second-half points.
- Trailing 68-66 with 3:04 to play, The Abbey scored nine straight points - a conventional three-point play by Cerda, a traditional three-pointer by Cerda and another three by Davis.
