Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. - Five Crusaders scored in double figures as the team rolled past Southern Wesleyan 86-54 this afternoon. With the win, The Abbey improves to 23-2 on the year, with an 18-1 Conference Carolinas record. SWU is now 3-22 overall, and 3-16 in conference play.
How it Happened
- Allie Downing scored the first four points of the game. The teams went back and forth throughout the period, which ended with a 13-12 Abbey lead
- Irelynn Davisson only needed 11 seconds into the second to nail a 3-point basket. Downing made a 3-pointer at the 8:11 mark, and the Crusaders never lost the lead after that
- Near the end of the period, The Abbey went on a 14-0 run, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers from Maria Kuhlman. Keyanna Spivey made a layup to finish off the period, and the Crusaders held a 48-31 lead at halftime
- Spivey scored four of the first six points of the third, increasing the lead to 54-31. Davisson scored five in the period, and the Crusaders led 72-42 heading into the final quarter. BAC held the Warriors to 11 points in the period
- The teams traded baskets for most of the fourth, with Kelli Thomas scoring seven points in the quarter for the Crusaders, who wrapped up the 86-54 victory
- Downing scored a game-high 18 points, while Davisson scored 14 and grabbed four rebounds
- Thomas finished with 13 points and six boards. Keyanna Spivey and Taylor Stelley each handed out four assists
