Box Score BELMONT, N.C. -- Liam Maxwell and Andrew Kohut each reached double figures in kills lifting Belmont Abbey to a 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15) victory over Erskine Saturday in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action. The win was the fifth straight for the Crusaders, who improve to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maxwell finished with 20 kills and a .350 hitting percentage, while adding an ace and nine digs.
- Kohut did not have an error in 16 chances, converting 13 kills (.812).
- Brennan Davis dished out 37 assists and had seven digs.
- Matthew Maxwell led the defensive effort with 10 digs.
- Belmont Abbey finished the contest with a .295 hitting percentage, while holding the Flying Fleet to .158.
- In the opening set, the Crusaders used four straight points to turn a 7-6 lead into 11-6. From there, the lead was never less than three and The Abbey posted a 25-19 victory.
- In the second set, a 5-0 run created some early separation, pushing a 6-4 advantage to 11-4. The lead never changed hands, resulting in a 25-18 decision.
- Erskine did not quit, taking the third set 25-23, before The Abbey settled down in the fourth. The Crusaders broke a 15-15 tie with seven straight points and cruised to the 25-15 victory.
