Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Five players topped double figures and the Belmont Abbey defense forced 18 turnovers, leading the Crusaders to an 89-63 victory at Limestone in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night.
With the win, The Abbey improves to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in league play. The Saints fall to 3-14, 2-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- DeQuan Abrom led Belmont Abbey with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Romeao Ferguson added 18 points, seven boards and five assists. Ryan Shaffer tallied 13 points, with Quest Aldridge and Charles Solomon chipping in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
- Belmont Abbey shot 50.7 percent overall in the contest, while holding the Saints to 42.6 percent.
- BAC held a 37-36 advantage on the boards.
- The Crusaders never trailed in the contest, as Sean Halloran canned a three at the start, then they answered a Limestone three with a 7-0 run. It was the third this season that The Abbey led wire-to-wire.
- The largest lead of 30 points came at 89-59 with 1:13 to play.
- The eight turnovers by Belmont Abbey were a season-low for the Crusaders.
- Abrom climbed into seventh place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,778 points. He passed David Kershaw, who had 1,770 from 1979-83.
- The Abbey swept the season series against Limestone, having defeated the Saints 82-69 in Belmont on Nov. 27.
