MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – James Booth earned four points, but the Belmont Abbey Men's Lacrosse team lost 13-9 to nationally #1-ranked Limestone in the Conference Carolinas Championship game this afternoon.  Belmont Abbey now holds a 14-3 record on the season.  Limestone is now 17-0.

How it Happened

• Six minutes into the game, Luke Spanier got The Abbey on the board first, on a pass from Booth.  Booth would score a goal of his own in the closing minutes of the quarter, and the game was tied at two when the period expired
• The Abbey offense came out hot in the second, getting three shots in the first two minutes of the period
• Grippo scored the first Abbey goal of the second, also on a pass from Booth
• Late in the quarter, the Crusaders scored twice in a 1:14-span, including a man-up goal by Austin Hasen.  The game was tied at six at halftime
• Liam Osborne was the first Crusader to score in the third.  Then with 4:12 remaining in the period, Osborne scored again, off a pass from Booth, and the teams were tied at eight heading into the final period
• Limestone managed to score four times in the fourth, before Haas tallied a man-down goal, and the Saints took the 13-9 win
• On the day, Booth was the Crusaders' offensive leader, scoring a goal and handing out three assists.
• All-Conference defender Anthony Cesario caused four Saints turnovers
• Bryce Gifford made a season-high 21 saves
