BANNER ELK, N.C. – 10 Crusaders scored a goal in today's 16-2 men's lacrosse victory at Lees-McRae College.  The win puts The Abbey at 12-2 on the season, including a 5-1 conference mark.  The Bobcats are now 4-9 on the season, with an 0-6 conference record.  Due to a one-hour lightning delay and field conditions, the game was played with 8-minute quarters, rather than the normal 15-minute quarters.

How it Happened

• Austin Hasen put the Crusaders on the board first, with a goal at the 5:44 mark.  Just a minute later Noah Haas followed up with another score
• Near the end of the quarter, The Abbey turned up the heat offensively, taking one shot after another, until Haas found the back of the net off a pass from James Booth
• Collin Grippo scored with two seconds remaining to give BAC a 4-1 lead when the period expired
• The second quarter was all Abbey.  It only took Ben Utrosa 39 seconds into the second quarter to score a man-up goal
• After that, Belmont Abbey scored six goals in a span of 2:16, winning all of the faceoffs in that span.  Sean Hanrahan scored the last of those goals, making it an 11-1 Abbey lead when the second quarter ended.  Due to the weather and field conditions, it was agreed prior to the contest that a ten-goal lead would result in a running clock
• Liam Osborne only needed 37 seconds into the third to add to the Crusaders' lead off a pass from Grippo
• With 2:53 left in the period, Ty Tom scored his second goal of the season far out, and The Abbey led 14-2 heading into the final period
• Osborne found Utrosa for a man-up goal just 38 seconds into the fourth
• Aaron White capped off the scoring and Belmont Abbey took the 16-2 win
• On the day, Dylan Harmon went 8-for-10 on faceoffs, with a game-high seven ground balls
• Booth and Grippo each finished two goals and two assists
• As a team, Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 31-5, and won 16 faceoffs, to the Bobcats' five
