BELMONT, N.C. - Erika Noblett earned a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at #6 singles as the Belmont Abbey women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over Lees-McRae College this afternoon. With the win, the Crusaders are now 8-1 in 2018, and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play. The Bobcats are now 4-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The day began with a 3-0 Crusader sweep in doubles play. Darian DeFrench and Erica Dorn paired up for an 8-0 shutout at #2. Noblett and Morgan Zahnd were also strong at #3, earning an 8-1 win.
Riley Ellingson got the first Crusader win in singles play, winning a convincing 6-1, 6-2 match at #2. Alex Weber got a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #5. Then Noblett finished it off with a shutout at #6.
Belmont Abbey will welcome Chowan University on Tuesday, March 20 for a 2 p.m. match.
