BELMONT, NC - Belmont Abbey earned wins in both doubles and singles from Alex Weber and Rachele Subik as the Crusaders defeated King, 5-4, in a Conference Carolinas match, Saturday afternoon at the Michael Reidy Tennis Center on the campus of Belmont Abbey College. With the win, Belmont Abbey improves to 6-14 overall, and 3-5 in Conference Carolinas, while the King falls to 5-13, 2-6 in league play.
Weber and Subik teamed up in doubles competition at #2 flight with an 8-4, victory over Haley Mahoney and Katya Cerny. At #3 flight, Brylee Seitz and Erika Norblett defeated Alyssa Salazar and Nia Gilliam, 8-1.
In singles play, Weber defeated Katya Cerny at the #3 spot, 7-5, 6-2, while Subik claimed a come-from-behind three set victory over Alyssa Salazar, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Freshman Ali Bates claimed the third singles point for the Crusaders as she defeated Haley Mahoney, 6-3, 6-0
Belmont Abbey returns to action Tuesday, April 12, against Catawba College at the Michael Reidy Tennis Center on the campus of Belmont Abbey College. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
