HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC- The Belmont Abbey Women's Tennis team took five of six singles matches as the Crusaders took down, Brevard, 8-1, Friday evening in Hilton Head. The Crusaders are now 4-6 overall and 2-2 in Conference Carolinas while the Tornadoes drop to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Abbey clinched the matches by winning the first three matches completed in singles play. Subik blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, while Mehan routed Rachel Stanford, 6-0, 6-1. Cox earned the clinching match point at #2 singles by defeating Nirvanna Silva, 7-6, 6-2.
Belmont Abbey, who has won three straight matches, returns to action Saturday morning in a doubleheader against Michigan Tech and Tiffin.
