GAFFNEY, SC- The Belmont Abbey Women's Tennis team opened up Conference Carolinas play with a 9-0 loss to Limestone Saturday afternoon at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center in Gaffney. This was the conference opener for both teams.
Teagan McNamara had a close match dropping just one break in each set against Manon Janin (6-3, 7-5) while Alex Weber also had a close second set against Hannah Hopkins (6-0, 7-5) in the singles but that wasn't enough to give the Lady Crusaders an edge on the match.
Darian DeFrench and Brylee Seitz fought a strong battle against Kayla Meermans and Hannah Hopkins in doubles however they fell 8-4.
The Crusaders are now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas, while Limestone goes to 1-0 overall, and 1-0 in conference play.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, February 9 against Augusta University at the Michael Reidy Tennis Center. Match time is set for 12:00PM.
