Men's Volleyball Moves To 6-0 For First Time With Wins Over Lees-McRae & Alderson-Broaddus

The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team is 6-0 for the first time in the four year history of the program as the Crusaders posted a pair of home wins on Saturday, defeating Lees-McRae 3-1 and sweeping Alderson-Broaddus 3-0. Belmont Abbey is now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas.

In the opening match of the day, Belmont Abbey defeated Lees-McRae by scores of 25-19, 25-15, 29-31 and 25-20 as the offense hit .204 and held the Bobcats to a .057 attack. 

Nolan Albrecht's 19 kills led the way with Brennan Beyner adding 13. Albrecht hit .325 for the match. Derek Sullivan handed out 39 assists and recorded three of the Abbey's six service aces. Albrecht, Beyner and Justin Snyder all had one ace.

The defense dominated at the net as the Crusaders recorded nine block solos with Dustin Buell's four leading the way. Snyder added a pair. Buell and Gavin Schaffer each had two block assists.

Belmont Abbey recorded 41 digs, ten more than the Bobcats, as Beyner's nine was the team high. Schaffer, Sullivan and Robert Valentine each had seven.

In the nightcap, the Crusaders dismissed the Battlers 25-20, 25-21 and 25-22 as Albrecht led all players with 13 kills. Robert Nixon added ten as he hit .643 for the match, recording just one error on 14 total attacks.  Beyner recorded four service aces with Nixon, Albrecht and Snyder totaling one each. Sullivan handed out 29 assists.

Defensively, Albrecht's seven digs led the Crusaders, which finished with 23. David Radoszewski posted five.

Beyner, Nixon, Snyder and Schaffer all had one block solo.

Belmont Abbey will close out its five match homestand Tuesday night when it welcomes Pfeiffer to the Wheeler Center. First serve is 7:00 p.m.
