The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches to gain the early momentum, but Catawba rallied with four singles victories to edge the Crusaders 5-4 this evening in Salisbury.
Belmont Abbey secured the doubles point with wins at two and three, as Teagan McNamara and Brylee Seitz scored an 8-4 win at the two spot. Kiersten Cox and Rachele Subik followed with an 8-3 victory at number three to give Belmont Abbey a 2-1 lead entering singles.
In singles, McNamara scored a straight sets victory at the top flight, posting 6-3, 6-3 scores, and Cox garnered an easy 6-4, 6-4 winner at the third spot, but the hosts won at the two, four, five and six spots to escape with the victory.
