The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team played a rare doubleheader this afternoon, defeating Southern Wesleyan 8-1 before losing to Limestone 8-1. Belmont Abbey was due to play the Saints yesterday but was rained out and today was the only available day to play. Belmont Abbey is now 5-14 overall and 3-7 in Conference Carolinas.
In the victory over the Warriors, the Crusaders won two matches by forfeit, one singles and one doubles, while scoring four singles wins. All four singles wins came in straight sets and the loss was in three sets.
Katharine Miller, Erika Noblett, Meghan Philp and Nicole Ferren all won, while Brigid Donohue won by forfeit.
In the second match of the day, Philp posted the lone victory at number three, as she outlasted Hannah Hopkins 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.
Belmont Abbey has one more match left in the regular season, Monday afternoon at Lees-McRae.
