The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team won four of six singles matches, but Converse won all three doubles matches, rallying from behind in two of those, as the Valkyries edged the Crusaders 5-4 this afternoon at the Reidy Tennis Center.

In doubles, the Crusaders were edged in three close matches, losing 8-6, 8-5 and 8-4, as Converse came from behind to win in spots two and three.

Needing six singles wins to earn the victory, Belmont Abbey got four, as Katharine Miller, Erika Noblett, Meghan Philp and McKenzie Owen all won.

Miller earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at the top spot, followed by Noblett's 7-6, 6-2 victory at number three. Philp posted an easy 6-4, 6-0 win at number five and Owen grabbed the fourth point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the sixth flight.

Converse, however won the match with easy wins at number two and four to secure the fifth point and claim the victory.
