McKenzie Owen Earns First Career Victory In Women's Tennis 8-1 Loss To Young Harris

In her first tennis match since her junior year of high school, Belmont Abbey senior McKenzie Owen posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at number six singles in the Crusaders women's tennis team's 8-1 loss to the visiting Young Harris Mountain Lions this afternoon.

Owen, the 2015 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Year and two time first team all-conference selection, joined the Crusaders tennis team this week and was officially cleared to play her first match beginning today.

In her first competitive match since her junior year at River Mill Academy in Burlington, North Carolina, Owen posted a straight sets victory at the number six spot, winning 6-2, 6-4.

Today's match is the first of a five match homestand for the Crusaders, who will welcome Mount Olive Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
