Men's Volleyball Swept By Limestone, 3-0

The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team was defeated in three sets this evening by the visiting Limestone College Saints. Set scores for the Saints were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-19. Limestone imiproves to 13-10 overall and 7-5 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 3-20 overall and 1-10 in league play.

Tonight's match was delayed one hour due to a scheduling conflict with the match officials.

After Limestone won the first set easily, the Crusaders mounted a charge in the second, overcoming a 14-11 deficit by winning eight of the next ten points to take a 19-16 lead.

Those would be the last Crusader points of the set as the Saints ended the frame by winning seven straight to claim a 25-19 win and a two sets to none lead in the match.

Limestone controlled the third set from the start, bolting out to a 5-0 lead and never looking back en route to a 25-19 win.

Brennan Beyner led the Crusaders with eight kills with Spencer Fournell adding seven. Evan Young hit a robust .556 as he posted five kills on nine attacks with zero errors. Derek Sullivan handed out 21 assists. Belmont Abbey hit .079 for the match.

Defensively, Fournell tied for the match high with nine digs, while Johnny Gomez added eight. At the net, Dustin Buell posted two block solos with one assist, while Fournell had a solo and one assist.
