Box Score 2 Belmont Abbey men's volleyball dropped both matches on the first day of the McKendree Crossover Tournament in Lebanon, Illinois, falling to Quincy and Lindenwood by 3-0 scores. Belmont Abbey is now 3-18 on the season.
In the first match of the night, against Quincy, the Crusaders lost by scores of 25-18, 25-10 and 25-18.
Spencer Fournell and Brennan Beyner both led the way with five kills with Dustin Buell adding three. Derek Sullivan handed out 11 assists, and along with Buell had a service ace.
Defensively, Sullivan and Johnny Gomez both led the Crusaders with six digs. Fournell, Beyner and Sullivan each had two block assists.
Against Lindenwood, the Abbey dropped all three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-18 as Beyner's four kills paced the offense. Evan Young and Gomez both added three.
Gomez, as the setter this match, handed out 13 assists and tied for the team high with three digs, along with David Radoszewski.
Beyner and Fournell each had one solo block.
Belmont Abbey is in action once tomorrow, taking on host McKendree at noon.
