Men's Volleyball Clinches Final Spot In Conference Carolinas Tournament With 3-0 Sweep Of Coker In Regular Season Finale

The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team clinched the final spot in the six-team Conference Carolinas Tournament as it swept Coker 3-0 and gained entry as Lees-McRae swept King to give the Crusaders the final spot. Belmont Abbey defeated Coker by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-13. The Crusaders improve to 11-19 overall and 5-11 in Conference Carolinas, while Coker ends its season and departs Conference Carolinas with an overall record of 6-15 and a 4-12 league mark. Coker will join the South Atlantic Conference next season.

Belmont Abbey and King finished the season with matching 5-11 Conference Carolinas records, but the Abbey won the tiebreaker by virtue of sweeping the season series.

As for tonight, the Crusaders coasted to a three set win in just 57 minutes as Griffin O'Camb led all players with 11 kills and four service aces. All four aces came during a consecutive stretch late in the third set. Aaron DeKalb and Nolan Albrecht both added six kills. Derek Sullivan handed out 20 assists and totaled two service aces. DeKalb added three service aces and an assist.

Belmont Abbey dominated the net to the tune of eight total blocks as Sullivan posted five total, three solo and two assisted. Antony Koyfman had both a solo and an assisted block, while Evan Young logged two solos and one assist. Albrecht and O'Camb both finished with six digs.

Coker hit a -.133 as Jared Geizer led the Cobras with five kills. James Joseph added four.
