Men's Lacrosse Moves To 5-1 With 10-7 Victory At Rollins

Belmont Abbey's Daniel Marshall led all players with four goals as the Crusaders men's lacrosse team outscored Rollins in every quarter except the fourth to post a 10-7 victory over the Tars this afternoon. Belmont Abbey is off to its best start in school history as it moves to 5-1, while Rollins drops to 1-6.

Marshall scored four goals on six shots while Tanner Scharr added three. Dan Morrissey netted a pair and Scotty Steele added another. Scharr also had two assists with Morrissey, Josiah Nash and Connor Doyle contributing one each.

Belmont Abbey led 4-2 after one period as the Crusaders started and ended the stanza with two goals. Scharr opened the scoring just 1:24 into the game, and Marshall tallied his first, a man up strike with just over five minutes gone by. Rollins countered by scoring two unanswered goals, but the Crusaders closed the period with a flurry, scoring twice in the final 45 seconds to grab a 4-2 lead.

The second period was low scoring as the Crusaders netted a pair to just one for Rollins, as the Abbey carried a 6-3 lead into the break. In the third the Crusaders outscored Rollins 3-2 as Morrissey, Scharr and Marshall scored goals, and in the fourth the two teams combined for three goals, as Rollins scored the first two but Morrissey closed the game with a strike with 16 seconds left.
