Belmont Abbey junior guard Kelsey Long led all scorers with 30 points, one shy of her career-high, but four Coker players reached double figures as the Cobras claimed a 75-63 win this evening at Timberlake-Lawton Gym in the regular season finale. Coker, which will be the fourth-seed in next week's Conference Carolinas Tournament, improves to 18-10 overall and 14-8 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey drops to 12-14 overall and 11-11 in Confernce Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey finishes the regular season tied for fifth with Mount Olive and Queens, but the Crusaders will be seeded seventh as they lose the tiebreakers and will face the second-seeded Barton Bulldogs in Wilson Tuesday night in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas tournament.

Long scored the first points of the game, a three-pointer with just 32 seconds gone by, which turned out to be the only Abbey lead of the game. Coker led by as many as nine points at 29-20 with 7:02 to play, but an 8-4 Abbey mini-run dropped the lead to just four, but Coker's Autumn Lau scored the final points of the half to send the Cobras into the break leading 35-29.

In the second half the Abbey shot 47 percent, but Coker began the final 20 minutes on a 14-4 run through the first 7:14 to move its lead to 16. Belmont Abbey countered with a flurry to chop the deficit down to single digits on two Melisa Foures free throws, but Coker scored the next six points to move its lead back to 14.

Trailing by 14, the Crusaders stormed back into the contest with a 17-9 run, capped off by a McKenzie Owen jumper, to whittle the lead all the way down to just four at 67-63 with a minute left, but the Crusaders did not score again, as Coker netted the final eight points to win by 12.

Long scored 30 points on 10-18 shooting from the field, including six of eight from three-point range. She also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal as she stayed on the floor for all 40 minutes. The 30 points is one shy of her career-high, set in the win over Queens earlier this year. Her original career-high of 29 points came at Coker her freshman year. Owen added 12 points and nine rebounds. Belmont Abbey shot 43 percent from the floor.

Coker shot 44 percent as Jasmine Evans led the Cobras with 20 points. Angie Lawrence added 15 while Lau added 14. Theresa Jackson-Henderson netted ten.
