Belmont Abbey freshman Dustin Buell led an Abbey offense with a
.583 attack as the Crusaders men's volleyball team snapped a
two-match losing streak with a 3-0 win at Barton this evening. Set
scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-14. The win also snaps a five-match
Conference Carolinas losing skid as the Abbey improves to 5-5
overall and 2-5 in league play, while the Bulldogs remain winless
at 0-6 overall and 0-5 in Conference Carolinas.
Buell and Griffin O'Camb both led the Crusaders with eight kills
apiece, but it was Buell who led the offense as he knocked down
eight kills on 12 attacks with one error (.583). He also had a pair
of service aces. O'Camb posted eight kills and had one assist,
while Nolan Albrecht posted six kills and 22 assists. Derek
Sullivan handed out 12 assists and also recorded six kills. Evan
Young totaled seven kills and posted a team-high 13 digs.
Defensively the Crusaders controlled the net with nine total
blocks, as Antony Koyfman led all players with five block assists.
O'Camb, Albrecht and Sullivan also had two block assists.
The Abbey won the digs count 52-40 as Young's 13 led the team.
O'Camb totaled ten, while Aaron DeKalb finished with nine. Albrecht
and Sullivan both had eight.
Barton hit just .028 as Evan McCalla led the Bulldogs with 11.
Jordan Robison handed out 21 assists and Nick Scalia led all
players with 15 digs.
