Belmont Abbey registered a .280 attack as Griffin O'Camb led all
players with 14 kills and Nolan Albrecht posted 11 as the Crusaders
men's volleyball team swept the visiting King Tornado by a 3-0
score this evening at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 25-22,
25-23 and 25-23. The win gives the Abbey the season sweep of the
series, as it also posted a 3-2 win over the Tornado on January 12.
The Crusaders improve to 6-6 overall and 3-6 in Conference
Carolinas, while the Tornado drop to 6-7 overall and 3-5 in league
play.
The Crusaders hit .280 for the match (42 kills, 20 errors on 106
total attacks) as O'Camb hit .290, posting 14 kills on 31 attacks
with just five errors. He also had seven digs. Albrecht notched a
triple double with 11 kills, 12 assists and 11 digs. Albrecht hit
.412 for the match. Derek Sullivan handed out 24 assists.
Defensively, the Abbey outdug King 41-39 and posted nine blocks
to just seven for King as Albrecht's 11 digs was the team-high.
Aaron DeKalb added ten. At the net, Antony Koyfman posted four
total blocks, two assisted and two solo. Every player that saw
action, save for DeKalb, had at least one block.
King hit .143 (33 kills, 19 errors on 98 total attacks) as
Matthew Laychock led the Tornado with 12 kills. Ashton Kippenstiel
handed out 29 assists. Libero Ned Parker led all players with 13
digs. Kippenstiel and Lychock both had three block assists.
