The Pfeiffer women's basketball team scored 46 first half points, draining eight of 16 shots from beyond the arc, as the Lady Falcons snapped the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team's two game winning streak with a 67-46 win this evening at the Wheeler Center. Pfeiffer moves to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Pfeiffer never trailed but the score was tied three times before the Lady Falcons pulled away for good in the first half. Pfeiffer shot 55 percent in the first half and 50 percent from three-point range as its lead rose to as high as 22, which was the halftime edge on a Carter Williams jumper with 16 seconds left to make the score 46-24. Williams and Jodie Lemons both scored 14 points in the first half, the only two players to score more than five points.

In the second half the Lady Falcons lead never dipped below 16 points, but the Abbey outscored Pfeiffer 22-21 in the final 20 minutes as Pfeiffer only converted a quarter of its shots (8-32), while the Crusaders made just 22 percent of their shots (7-31).

Pfeiffer led by as many as 26 on a Christina Harvey layup with 10:44 to play to make the score 57-31. The Crusaders could only get the score down to as few as 16, but Pfeiffer regained its edge and moved its lead back over 20 points, where it stayed for the remainder of the contest.

After its scorching first half, Pfeiffer only shot 39.3 percent (24-61) for the game and 33.3 percent (9-27) from three-point range. The Lady Falcons were just one of 11 from three-point range in the second half after going eight for 16 in the first half. Lemons led all scorers with 17 points, while Williams totaled 14. Kellie Rhoney contributed ten. Harvey's 13 rebounds led all players as Pfeiffer won the rebounding battle by a 42-40 count.

Morgan Midkiff led the Abbey with 15 points and Candace Fox added nine. Caitlyn Ranson's ten rebounds are a new career-high. Belmont Abbey shot 27.6 percent (16-58) from the field.
