The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team overcame a two set to
one deficit by taking the last two sets to earn a 3-2 win at King
College this morning at the King College Student Center. Scores
were 23-25, 25-21, 16-25, 26-24 and 15-12. The Abbey, which has won
the first two matches in program history, move to 2-0 overall and
1-0 in Conference Carolinas, while King falls to 1-2 overall and
0-2 in league play.
The Crusaders won their inaugural match over Quincy by a 3-1
score last night and will wrap up the King College Invitational
later today with a match against Rust College.
Belmont Abbey hit .151 as Griffin O'Camb, who just joined the
program earlier this month, led the way with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Nolan Albrecht added 10 to go along with 20 assists, 14 digs and
two block assists. He also had a service ace. Dustin Buell added
nine kills and four block assists. Setter Derek Sullivan handed out
25 assists and posted 12 digs. Aaron DeKalb also had 12 digs as the
Abbey won that battle by a 62-60 count.
King's Stephen Brown led all players with 18 kills and Matthew
Lychock and Michael Koebel added 13 and 12, respectively. The
Tornado hit .158 for the match.
