The Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team suffered a 15-5 loss at the eighth-ranked Mars Hill Lions this afternoon at Meares Stadium. Mars Hill remains unbeaten at 8-0, while the Abbey falls to 2-4.

Dan Morrissey and Scotty Steele led the Abbey with two goals apiece and Jarrett Bergin added the other. Ryan Corrigan and Joey McGinley both had one assist.

Mars Hill scored the first four goals of the game and would build a 6-2 advantage in the second quarter before two-straight Crusader goals, coming from Bergin and Steele, closed the lead to 6-4. Mars Hill countered by scoring seven unanswered goals to open its lead to 13-4. Morrissey scored the final Abbey goal at the 12:42 mark.

Morrissey and Tanner Scharr led the Abbey with four ground balls apiece, and Jon Wolcott added three. He also won all three of his face-off attempts. Merrick Reiland stopped ten shots in the cage.
