The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team won eight of nine matches
to claim an 8-1 win over the visiting King College Tornado this
afternoon at Sacred Heart Courts. The Abbey has now won its
second-straight Conference Carolinas match.
Kirstie Jenkins took an easy 6-0, 6-0 win at number one singles.
Bridget Franer lost 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles, but the
Crusaders dominated the rest of the way, as Brooke Ingram claimed a
6-0, 6-4 win at number three. Shannon Ramsey won 7-6 (7-3), 1-6,
10-2 win at number four singles, while Paige French and Abby
Poetker both won by default.
At doubles, Jenkins and Katharine Miller earned an 8-2 win at
number one, while Ingram and Ramsey won 8-6 at number two. Franer
and French won at number three by default.
