Belmont Abbey senior guard Terrone Sheffey swished home two free throws with two seconds left to seal an 81-77 Crusaders win at North Georgia this afternoon at Memorial Hall Gymnasium. The victory ups the Abbey's mark to 5-1, while North Georgia drops to 3-2.

After North Georgia's Corey Green knotted the game for the eighth and last time with a tip-in at the 5:51 mark, the Abbey outscored the Saints 11-7 the rest of the way to pull out the victory.

Jay Council answered Green's tip in with a running layup 41 seconds later to push the Crusaders ahead for good. After the Saints missed a layup on their next possession, Justin Kuhlman fed Tyshawn Good, whose three pointer, the last three of his game-high 29 points, dropped through the net to extend the lead to five.

North Georgia countered with a pair of free throws on its next trip down the floor to close the lead to three with 4:12 to go, and after a missed Abbey jumper, it cut the lead down to just one on a Lamar Richardson jumper with 3:32 to go.

Belmont Abbey fired right back, scoring the next five points to move its advantage back to five. Chris Davis answered Richardson's jumper with a layup, and following a Saints turnover, Council made it 79-75 Crusaders with 2:27 to go.

Less than a minute later, however, Chris Tanzy of North Georgia netted a three-pointer to trim the lead back to a pair at 79-77 with 1:43 to go, but the Saints did not score again as that three-pointer proved to be the last field goal of the game for both teams.

With three seconds left, after a missed tip-in, Ishmael Hollis turned the ball over after grabbing an offensive rebound. One second later, Richardson fouled Sheffey, whose two free throws sealed the game.

Both teams entered the second half tied at 40 after solid shooting efforts. The Crusaders made half of their shots (15-30) and connected on six of nine from beyond the arc. North Georgia shot 42 percent in the first half but was just four of 16 (25 percent) from three-point range.

Good led all scorers with 29 points on 11-17 shooting from the field, including five of seven from three-point range. He also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals. He has scored 57 points in the last two games. Sheffey added 14 points and two assists, and Davis chipped in with 12 points, two steals and a blocked shot. Belmont Abbey shot 54 percent (32-59) from the floor and 57 percent (8-14) from three-point range.

Richardson led the Saints with 16 points, while Tanzy contributed 13. Hollis and Scott Windom both added 12. North Georgia shot 41 percent from the floor and attempted 32 shots from beyond the arc, connecting on nine (28 percent).
