Four Belmont Abbey men's basketball players reached double figures, led by Tyshawn Good's 19, as the Crusaders earned an easy 89-67 win at Limestone this evening. The win moves the Abbey's record to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in Conference Carolinas, while Limestone drops to 8-12 overall and 1-7 in Conference Carolinas.

All 15 of the Abbey's available players saw action and ten scored at least two points, as Good totaled 19 on eight of 16 shooting with two assists and two steals. Freshman Justin Kuhlman added a career-high 15 on four of five shooting from the field, including three of four from three-point range. He also converted all four of his free throw attempts. Jay Council added 11 points with two assists and two steals, and Matthew Graves chipped in with ten points on five of seven shooting with six rebounds. Kyle Phillips finished with just six points, but he grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots, five in the first half. He also had three assists and a steal. Terrone Sheffey added seven assists to go along with eight points.

The Crusaders shot 43.9 percent (36-82) from the field and won the rebounding battle 50-49.

Belmont Abbey never trailed after being down 6-4 with just over two minutes gone as it raced out to a 30-11 lead with 7:33 left in the half. The advantage grew to as high as 22 on two free throws from Tremayne Gates with 6:04 left. Limestone scored the next eight points to chop the lead down to 14, but that was negated as the Abbey closed the stanza by scoring the final seven points, on jumpers from Phillips and Council, and a three-pointer by Ryan Conrad with 11 seconds left that extended the Abbey's lead to 40-19 at the half.

Limestone's point total came on five field goals, all three-pointers, and four free throws as it shot just 15 percent (5-33) in the first half, while the Abbey accumulated a 39 percent (16-41) effort in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half the Crusaders lead ascended to as high as 32 points at 64-32 on two free throws by Kuhlman with 12:29 to go. A Limestone run closed its deficit to as few as 18 at 68-50 with 7:30 to go, but the Crusaders scored the next nine points to stretch the lead back to 27 with 5:19 left.

Limestone never got the deficit below 19 from there, and the Abbey scored the last three points of the game to produce the 89-67 final.

The Saints finished the game with a 28 percent (18-64) shooting effort as Charles Blue, who leads Conference Carolinas in rebounding average per game, led all scorers with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Phillip Moultrie gave the Saints a second double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
