The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team fell at Barton 8-1 this
afternoon, with senior Alex Cook taking the lone Crusader win at
number one singles.
Cook earned a hard-fought 7-6 (8-6), 2-6 (10-8) decision over
Blair Burke. At No. 2, Barton's Lindsey Toth beat Marielle McLaurin
6-0, 6-1; Lindsey Frederick topped Molly Gwaltney 6-0, 6-1 at No.
3; Kristen Packer won 6-1, 6-0 over Abbey Poetker at No. 4; and
Sarah Dice got a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. Jaime Galasso won by
forfeit at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, Toth-Burke beat Cook-McLaurin 8-3, Galasso-Packer
blanked Gwaltney-Poetker 8-0 and Frederick-Dice won by forfeit at
Nos. 1-3, respectively.
