Good's Career-High 21 Points Leads Men's Basketball Past Lees-McRae, 81-67

Belmont Abbey freshman guard Tyshawn Good led four Crusaders in double figures with a career-high 21 points as the Crusaders men's basketball team earned its third-straight win with an 81-67 victory over the visiting Lees-McRae Bobcats this evening at the Wheeler Center. The Abbey moves to 9-7 overall and its Conference Carolinas mark climbs to 5-5, while the Bobcats fall to 2-15 overall and 1-9 in Conference Carolinas.

Good, who scored 16 first half points, finished with 21 points by going eight of 11 from the floor, one of three from three-point range and four of six from the free throw line. Patrick Kuhlman and Richard Barbee followed with 13 points apiece, and Harvin Council, Jr. scored 12 points. Ian Parry grabbed team-high ten rebounds for the Crusaders. Belmont Abbey shot 56 percent from the field, including 60 percent in the first half as it grabbed a 39-26 halftime lead.

Daniel Sepokas led Lees-McRae with 21 points. He was followed by Adam McFerran, who scored 17 points on seven of 13 from the floor and three of four from the charity stripe and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

Lees-McRae never led during the game with the Abbey taking a six point lead, 12-6 at the 13:57 mark.

The Bobcats would claw within one, 12-11, a minute later, but the Crusaders quickly extended the lead to 16 points, 29-13, with a 17-2 run.

The Abbey would close the half up 13 points, 39-26.

After the half, the lead was pushed to 20 points, 50-30, at the 16-minute mark, and to a game-high 28 points, 71-43, with just over seven minutes to play in the game.

Lees-McRae again would scrap back and close the lead to 11 at 77-66 with 1:47 to play, but the Abbey finished the game with an 81-67 win.
