Belmont Abbey freshman forward Kristin Foster scored a goal and
had three assists, Erika Trivisonno and Alli Zingo both scored
twice as the Crusaders women's soccer team earned an easy 6-0 win
over the visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian Knights this afternoon.
The Abbey improves to 5-2-0 and remains perfect in Conference
Carolinas play at 4-0, while the SAPC falls to 4-3-1 overall and
2-1-1 in Conference Carolinas. The Abbey is now unbeaten in 42 of
its last 43 matches against conference opponents.
The Abbey controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting
St. Andrews 23-0 as freshman Alana Ryczek put the Abbey on top 1-0
just 6:20 in, heading home a winner off of a pass from Celene
Molera.
Foster made it 2-0 in the 30th minute, curling home a winner on
a corner kick. Two minutes later Trivisonno made it 3-0 on a give
and go, as Foster fed Stephanie Avila deep into the St. Andrews
zone. Avila sent a forward pass to Trivisonno down the left flank,
who buried home the winner.
19 seconds later, Zingo upped the lead to 3-0, as she took a
pass from Foster, juked a defender and beat Becca Knott for the
goal. Zingo struck for the second time ten minutes later, at the
42:28 mark, with an unassisted tally to give the Abbey a 4-0 lead
at the half.
Trivisonno closed the scoring in the 72nd minute as Foster sent
a cross from the left flank to the center of the box, where
Trivisonno volleyed home the winner.
The Abbey held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks in addition to
its 23-0 advantage in shots. Knott made nine saves, while Kelsey
Lovell posted her third consecutive shutout.
