KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Anna Richárd and
Addie Galek added Scholar All-South Region honors to their postseason accolades as United Soccer Coaches announced the teams Wednesday. The two Crusaders had previously earned All-Region honors from the organization earlier this month.
Richárd is a senior forward from Carthage, N.C. that holds a 3.7 GPA and is a nursing major at Belmont Abbey. She finished her senior year with nine goals and 13 assists on the season. The 13 assists are tied for the most in all of Division II. She earned first-team All-Conference Carolinas honors and was named the Division II United Soccer Coaches Player of the Month for October. She was a first-team All-Region selection from D2CCA and a CSC Academic All-District honoree as well.
Galek is a senior midfielder from Charlotte holding a 3.97 GPA majoring in psychology at the Abbey. She had a career-best year as well, finishing with eight goals and five assists on the season. Additionally, she was a first-team All-Conference Carolinas selection and appeared in all 22 matches with 19 starts for the Crusaders this season. She was a second-team All-Region selection from D2CCA and was a CSC Academic All-District honoree.
Galek and Richárd are the latest Crusaders to be named Scholar All-Region after
Mia Muckenthaler and Logan Parry were honored two years ago. Muckenthaler also earned Scholar All-American status that season.
In order to be eligible for Scholar All-American honors, the student-athlete must be nominated by their Head Coach and the coach must be a current United Soccer Coaches College Services member.
