The Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team dropped a tough 11-10
overtime decision to the visiting Queens University Royals this
afternoon at Alumni Field in a battle of the Conference Carolinas
rivals. Queens improves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Conference
Carolinas, while the Abbey drops to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in
Conference Carolinas.
With the score deadlocked at ten at the end of regulation,
Queens scored the game winner 1:53 into the extra frame as Stephen
LeBlanc found Brian Masterson for the goal.
Belmont Abbey outshot the Royals 37-29 as Dave DiLuigi led the
way with three goals, while Miles Elliott had a pair. Jedd Gardner,
Doug Lipka, Michael Brown, James Regan and Tristan Keas all had one
each. Austin Whitesell had two assists, while Elliott, Gardner,
Lipka, Damon DeLuca and Matt Spivey all finished with one.
Defensively, Keas led all players with five caused turnovers and
six ground balls, while Lipka and goalkeeper Tony Kikola both
finished with a pair of caused turnovers. Kikola made eight saves
in the net.
Queens was led by Louie Boyle's five goals, while Brian Lipscomb
had three. LeBlanc, Masterson and Miles Kerbein all had one each.
Goalkeeper Brandon Macknew made nine saves.
