Women's Basketball Cruises Past St. Andrews Presbyterian, 85-50

The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team shot 48.4 percent from the floor as four Lady Crusaders reached double figures, led by freshman forward Paula Regalado, who poured in a career-high 19 points as the Abbey sailed past St. Andrews 85-50 this evening at the Wheeler Center. Belmont Abbey improves to 13-6 overall and 11-3 in Conference Carolinas, while the Lady Knights fall to 1-17 overall and 0-14 in Conference Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey's biggest lead was 43 points as Regalado scored 19 points on nine-12 shooting from the field, while grabbing four rebounds, handing out two assists and collecting three steals in just under 20 minutes. Sophomore forward Shayla Jackson added 16 points on seven of 12 shooting, while grabbing four rebounds in 17 minutes. Kala Nwachukwu added 11 points, four rebounds and a steal, and junior guard Courtney Naquin posted ten points and five assists. The Lady Crusaders converted 30 of its 62 field goal attempts, including a 54.8 percent (17-31) in the second half.

St. Andrews shot 35.4 percent (17-48) as Desiree Jones led the way with 12 points, while Melissa Freeman added 11.

Belmont Abbey outrebounded St. Andrews 30-22 and the defense forced 25 turnovers and collected ten steals.
