Men's Lacrosse Stuns Fifth-Ranked Limestone In Overtime, 9-8

Belmont Abbey senior attackman Jedd Gardner broke an 8-8 tie with the winning goal 3:01 into overtime as the Abbey men's lacrosse team shocked fifth-ranked Limestone 9-8 this afternoon at Saints Field. It is the Abbey's second-straight win over the Saints, with the last coming in last season's Conference Carolinas Championship game. The Abbey moves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas, while the Saints fall to 0-1 overall and in Conference play.

Gardner tied for the game-high with four goals, while Michael Brown had a pair. Matt Spivey, James Regan, and Douglas Lipka all finished with one goal apiece. Brown led all players with three assists, including one to Gardner in overtime. Austin Whitesell had a pair, while Dave DiLuigi and Gardner both had one each. Goalkeeper Tony Kikola made 14 saves.
