The Belmont Abbey men's basketball team fell to the visiting
Pfeiffer University Falcons by a 103-89 count this evening at the
Wheeler Center. Pfeiffer improves to 11-8 overall and 8-4 in
Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 11-7 overall and 8-4
in Conference Carolinas.
In a contest that featured six ties and 19 lead changes, both
schools shot at least 50 percent from the field, as the Falcons
finished with a 55.4 percent (36-65) output while the Abbey shot an
even 50 percent (35-70). Senior guard Jonathan Jackson led three
Crusaders and tied for the game high with 26 points on nine of 19
shooting from the field, while sophomore guard Richard Barbee added
12 points and junior forward Chad Patus posted ten.
Pfeiffer received 26 points from Robert McGriff, while Chris
Woods added a double double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Woods
sank ten of his 12 field goal attempts. Jeff Pettiway added 17
points on six of seven shooting, including a four for five effort
from three-point range.
