The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team shot 56 percent from
the floor as five Lady Crusaders reached double figures in a 90-53
win at Pfeiffer this evening. Belmont Abbey, winners of
four-straight, improve to 12-5 overall and 10-2 in Conference
Carolinas, while the Lady Falcons fall to 2-15 overall and 2-10 in
Conference Carolinas.
Belmont Abbey, which led by as many as 39 points, sank 32 of its
52 field goal attempts. The starting five of Ashley Giddens,
Courtney Naquin, Emma Camp, Shayla Jackson and Asha Hardaway
combined to sink 25 of those 32 field goals, as they shot 56.8
percent (25-44) from the floor.
Naquin led five Lady Crusaders in double figures with 19 points
on six of 13 shooting from the floor. She added four assists and a
pair of steals in 34 minutes. Jackson posted 16 points on eight of
12 shooting, while pulling down eight rebounds, handing out four
assists and collecting a pair of steals in just 24 minutes. Kala
Nwachukwu posted 12 points on four of six shooting from the field
in just 14 minutes, while Paula Regalado posted her second-straight
double digit point contest off the bench, contributing 11 points on
3-4 shooting. Camp added ten points on five of seven shooting with
four rebounds and one steal. Hardaway sank all three of her field
goal attempts as she finished with six points.
Pfeiffer was led by Devona Knight, who posted a double double
with 15 points and ten rebounds. Jamila Harris added ten points as
the Lady Falcons shot 31 percent (18-57) from the field.
