Box score

The Belmont Abbey baseball team dropped a 9-4 decision at Augusta State this afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

The Crusaders posted four unearned runs in the first and second innings as the Jaguar defense committed a pair of errors behind him, but ASU answered the Crusaders' pair of runs with four of their own in the bottom of the first. BAC starter David Koppenheffer (0-1) walked five batters in the inning and freshman Alex Walker's single put the Jags ahead 4-2.

The Abbey answered with two runs in the second and the score remained tied until a leadoff homer in the fourth. Wilkerson's three-run shot three batters later gave ASU an 8-4 cushion.

The Jags tacked on a run in the seventh on an Owens' RBI-groundout that plated Tyler Marzofka, who reached on an infield single to start the inning.

The Crusaders are back in action Saturday afternoon at noon when they host Anderson in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader.
