BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team returned home to face Northwest Division foe North Greenville Tuesday at Alumni Field.
The Crusaders outshot the Trailblazers 14-12 but it was NGU who came away with the 2-0 victory.
Belmont Abbey is now 1-2-2 overall and 0-2 in Conference Carolinas play. North Greenville is 1-3 overall and 1-0 as Tuesday was the conference opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey withstood an early surge from North Greenville as the Trailblazers had a 5-1 advantage in shots in the first 15 minutes.
- Jackson Bennett made a pair of saves in that early run. He finished the night with five saves.
- North Greenville took the lead in the 30th minute with its first goal.
- 11 of the Crusaders' 14 shots came after halftime.
- Holland Miller led the Abbey with four shots.
- Austin Ball had two shots on goal for the Crusaders.
- Belmont Abbey finished with seven corner kicks.
