BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team got a brace from
Patrick Wiley in the second half but the Crusaders fell 3-2 to Mount Olive on a rainy Saturday evening at Alumni Field.
The Crusaders fell behind 3-0 early in the second half before Wiley scored two goals in the final 15 minutes of the match.
Belmont Abbey is now 1-3-2 overall and 0-3 in league play. Mount Olive is now 2-2 overall, 1-0 in Conference Carolinas.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mount Olive scored in the 21st and 28th minute of the first half.
- The Crusaders took six shots on goal in the first half, including three by Holland Miller.
- Mount Olive added a third goal in the 48th minute.
- Jackson Bennett made eight saves in the contest.
- Wylie's first goal came in the 77th minute off an assist from Carson Czosnyka.
- His second goal came in the 84th minute off an assist from Daniel Alvarenga.
- Belmont Abbey outshot Mount Olive 18-17.
- The Crusaders finished with eight corner kicks.
