ROME, Ga. — Belmont Abbey pulled away from pesky Shorter team with four secon-half goals, leading the Crusaders to a 5-0 victory in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action Saturday afternoon

With the win, the Crusaders improved to 5-2-2 overall and 3-1-2 in Conference Carolinas play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Mya Drinkwater opened the scoring in the 30th minute, recording her first goal of the season to give Belmont Abbey a 1-0 lead.
• The Crusaders erupted for four second-half goals. Haley Long scored in the 65th minute, followed by Samantha Smith in the 69th, Caroline Roche in the 77th and Erin Walker in the 86th.
• Long finished with a team-high three shots on goal and scored her fourth goal of the season. Roche added four shots, all on target, and scored her third goal.
• Smith recorded three shots on goal and scored her first goal of the season, while Walker added her first goal of the year off the bench.
• Belmont Abbey dominated the attack, out-shooting Shorter 23-1 and putting 15 shots on target. The Crusaders also held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks and controlled 69 percent of possession.
• Ryleigh Dougherty recorded her fifth win of the season and her third shutout.
